Rupak Sarkar
CVHello, I'm
Rupak Sarkar
Department of Chemical Sciences(DCS)
Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata
I am a 4th-year BS-MS Chemistry(Major) & Biology(Minor) student at IISER Kolkata with research interests in heterogeneous catalysis, surface chemistry, reaction kinetics, and bio-chmistry. I enjoy combining theoretical concepts with experimental chemistry to design efficient catalytic systems for sustainable energy applications.

About Me
I am Rupak Sarkar, a fourth-year BS–MS Chemistry major[with minor in Biology] student at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata. My interest is always driven by learning new things through the theoretical and experimental concept of chemistry. During my undergraduate studies, I have gained hands-on research experience in organic synthesis, heterogeneous catalysis, electrochemistry, spectroscopy, material chemistry, medicinal chemistry and quantum chemistry. These experiences have strengthened both my experimental skills and scientific thinking while allowing me to work on interdisciplinary research projects. Currently, I have done a research project at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Japan, where I am involved in research on CO₂ electroreduction and intermetallic catalyst development. This opportunity has allowed me to collaborate in an international research environment and deepen my understanding of advanced catalytic materials. Beyond research, I enjoy learning new scientific techniques, developing computational skills, mentoring students, and participating in academic activities that promote innovation and collaboration. My long-term goal is to pursue a PhD in Chemistry and contribute to the development of sustainable catalytic systems and advanced functional materials that can address global energy and environmental challenges.
